Blues Luncheon: Mike Zito and Anders Osborne —Thursday, 30 August (Lunch served 11:45 - 12:45)

Mike Zito and Anders Osborne are teaming up at WCNA 37 to move your soles and your souls! Many of you will remember Mike Zito from his extraordinary appearance with Royal Southern Brotherhood at WCNA 35 in Philadelphia. Since then Mike has released two new albums “Keep Coming Back” (2015) and his most recent, “Make Blues Not War” (2016). Zito grew up in a hard-grafting blue-collar home in St. Louis and worked at a downtown guitar shop where he was exposed to heavyweights like BB King, the Allmans, and Eric Clapton. Zito commands voice and guitar, coaxing out blues that wrench the soul. He released his first album, “Blue Room” in 1997 and seemed to be going places; but then he hit bumps in the road with drug abuse, and it seemed he might lose all he had accomplished, but life turned around for Mike and his journey continued anew. Mike brings his experience of living life on the road and on life’s terms and his lyrics are said to search for the silver lining in a troubled world.

I was living too hard breaking every one's heart; But losing my friends again and again…But I got lucky, got a chance to make amends; On that High and lonesome road; One step at a time - I trust this feeling of mine…(One Step at a Time, Mike Zito)

Between the potency of his richly detailed songwriting, his intensely emotional, soulful vocals, and his piercing guitar work, New Orleans' Anders Osborne is a powerful artist. He has won the hearts and souls of fans on tours with the North Mississippi Allstars and Southern Soul Assembly, with his own band, as a solo artist, and as a guest with the likes of Toots and The Maytals, Stanton Moore, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Keb Mo, The Grateful Dead's Phil Lesh, Jackie Greene Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, and Bonnie Raitt. He's produced and played on critically acclaimed albums by Tab Benoit, Johnny Sansone and Mike Zito. Osborne’s first album, “Doin’Fine,” was released in 1989 and he has steadily recorded, dropping some 15 albums, including two released in 2016: “Spacedust & Ocean Views” and “Flower Box.” Zito and Osborne are sure to rock the house for the WCNA 37 Blues Luncheon!
